China Golden Week 2026 – Supply Chain Disruptions
China’s Golden Week holiday will be observed from 1 – 7 October 2026. During this period, most factories, warehouses, trucking providers and logistics businesses across China will either close completely or operate with significantly reduced staffing levels.
As a result, there will be very limited cargo movements during the holiday period, and freight demand is expected to remain elevated well into October as exporters work through the backlog of shipments.
Customers should expect:
- Reduced factory production and cargo availability
- Limited trucking and warehouse operations during Golden Week
- Tight ocean and air freight capacity before and after the holiday
- Earlier booking and documentation cut-offs
- Vessel schedule changes, blank sailing, shipment rollovers & heavy congestion
- Ongoing delays throughout October as supply chains return to normal operations
With October also remaining part of the traditional peak shipping season, competition for freight space is expected to remain strong after the holiday period.
To minimise disruption, we strongly recommend confirming production schedules and securing bookings as early as possible.
If you have upcoming shipments from China, please contact your SILA representative to discuss your requirements and reserve capacity.
Kind Regards,
